# Create a Server

### Before you start

* Create your account first — [Create an Account](/bot-hosting.net/guides/create-an-account.md)

### Create a deployment

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Select a project

Your account starts with a default project.

Select that project before you create a deployment.

You can update the project name and description in **Settings**.

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Start a new deployment

Click **New Deployment** in the top-right corner.

Start with the basic details:

* Enter a deployment name.
* Add a description if needed.

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Choose the deployment type

Select the type that matches what you want to create.

* **Application** — Runs your bot, app, or website.
* **Database** — Creates a managed database for your project.

If you choose **Application**, select:

**Source** — Where the deployment gets your files from.

* **Blank** — Starts with an empty deployment. Upload files later in **Files** or connect with SFTP.
* **GitHub** — Clones a GitHub repository during creation.
* **ZIP** — Extracts your uploaded archive during creation.
* **Backup** — Restores files from an existing backup, even if the original deployment was deleted.
* **Template** — Uses pre-made files for common bot setups.

**Runtime** — The language and version installed for the app.

If you choose **Database**, select:

* **Engine** — The database type and version.
* **Backup** instead of **New Database** if you are restoring a deleted database.

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Review resources and launch

Choose the resources amount for the deployment.

You can change the resources allocated later too.

Then launch the deployment.

{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

{% hint style="info" %}
You can link a GitHub repository after the creation too.
{% endhint %}

### What's next?

[Set Up a Server](/bot-hosting.net/guides/set-up-a-server.md) — Configure the deployment and upload your files.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://bothosting-net.gitbook.io/bot-hosting.net/guides/create-a-server.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
